After a fairly slack morning/lunchtime, I made my way to East Fremantle for Norah's birthday. Mostly pictures )

Afterwards I gave [livejournal.com profile] mynxii a lift home, and she kindly gave me dinner. I witnessed [livejournal.com profile] kae_dash and [livejournal.com profile] aescapulius's antics first hand, and marvelled at the concept of competitive housekeeping. In all, a great social day for social activity, despite [livejournal.com profile] linstar missing most of the action.

This post is dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] moonvoice, who somehow survived visiting our home for dinner and a movie tonight. :P

I encourage you all to rush out and throw money at her for prints or originals of her wonderful art; I love many of her pieces.

Oh dear, it's been a month already since we left France. Where did the time go? I do intend to write a travelogue at some point, filled with photos. I have three and a half DVDs worth to choose from (though a gig or two of that is video). But before I do that I have a lot of photo stitching to do.

I probably should have gone to bed a while ago.

We picked up the car late yesterday afternoon. Can it be drive time now plz? )

If we exclude the car I had 14 years ago on account of it being (I'm pretty sure) registered in my mum's name, then this will technically be my first car. :P I am looking forward to driving to Toodjay this weekend.

When leaving the house this morning we realised we'd left a garage remote in the Festiva. Oops.

In unrelated news we attended a wedding on Sunday. Linda did all the flowers (bouquets, corsages, buttonholes, table centrepieces); photos will be added to her portfolio soon. I was handed a small MiniDV camera with which to record proceedings. I suspect my still camera takes better video though. OTOH my memory cards store less than the tapes. Another two weddings the next two weekends (both of which Linda's doing the flowers for), and a fourth later next month, will hopefully conclude our wedding season for this year. :P

Last weekend was Art and Anna's wedding. I had been volunteered to be first at the venue to help with initial setup. I also got to drive their car, which was quite fun, though I still find the springy feel of power steering to be unpleasant. Anyway, overall it was a very pleasant and relaxed (albeit busy) day, and I think I got a few good photos. Not necessarily always the best photos, but it was good to get some practice under the conditions (bright sunlight with shaded area can make managing the dynamic range tricky).

Anyway, onto some of my better shots of the day. )

In a fit of enthusiasm, I got around to doing some more photo processing not one, but two sets of photos.

I received a phone call late this afternoon telling me that at 5:18pm Melbourne time I became an uncle again. I wonder when people will start asking me when my turn is...

In other news Swancon last weekend was a lot of fun. I quite literally can not wait until the next one. Made a reasonable effort at being more active socially this year; still need more practice though. I took the time to go to more panels, and spent less time just floating around the hotel.

I was terribly impressed with the ease with which [livejournal.com profile] cyps and [livejournal.com profile] willowgypsy *waves to them* (two people I'd known outside of fandom for 12 years now; there was this constant feeling of being Perthed. :) ) assimilated into swancon culture. It made me glad to be associated with such a welcoming group of people.

My camera is in the repair shop at the moment, having its LCD replaced (after somehow being broken while still in its camera bag). I kind of feel naked without it. :P

My Swancon photos (such as they are) will be available Real Soon Now (need to cull the crap/duplicates first).

Well, it seems that Linda has posted twice in two days, and seeing as I'd been telling myself I'd do a photo-related posted anyway, here I am.

Some of you may have noticed my enthusiasm for taking photos. )
