Inspired by a Slashdot article, I apt-get installed Legacy Doom and unzipped Cube. The former didn't seem to want to work on my machine (Floating Point Exception) but it did work fine on the windoze box. Engine has a similar feel to Heretic II. The latter game works fine (better with 3D acceleration though). Ahh, the memories. It runs better than it did on my 486SX20 ten years ago...
Now if only the games actually had other people I could play against, things would be perfect...
In non-nerd news, the pantry now has about 8 cartons of soft drink (180 cans!!) and 12 packets of potato chips. This should last us until about March, by my reckoning. And don't get me started on the quantities of tomato paste and barbeque sauce we have. I think I need to have a word with the person responsible for most of the grocery shopping. : )
